Imagine Emily Dickinson whispering lyric ballads in your right ear while Saul Williams spits fiery phrases in your left. Behind you, the Pixies and Duke Ellington clash in a battle of the bands accompanied by Nina Simone. Now suppose all that wonderful chaotic musical and poetic energy was distilled into ink and lovingly poured onto the printed page. What you’d wind up with might possibly resemble Honey Spiders & Chocolate Bees
, a new collection of writings by Jenifer Forseth. Simultaneously sensual and streetwise, Jenifer’s poetry fulfills the archetypal Poet’s pledge, once purloined by Ezra Pound from a Chinese Emperor’s bathtub, to “make it new.” This is poetry to be savored, pondered, memorized, and, as frequently as possible, whispered breathlessly in a lover’s ear.
A native of Napa, California, Jenifer Forseth is a photographer, writer, and mother. In 2005, she earned a B.A. in English from Sonoma State University. She is currently engaged in the process of enlarging her word hoard at the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado.
